Insulation Grants For Landlords
Grants are available to both private and social landlords but the way in which the funding is allocated differs.
Private
Landlords
It is the occupier of a property that is entitled to an insulation grant as they
pay the fuel bills. As a private landlord, your only requirement is to give
written permission prior to works being carried out. If your tenants qualify for
a 100% grant, you will not have to pay anything towards the cost of insulation.
If tenants only qualify for a partial grant, it is the tenant who should
contribute the remainder. However, as tenants are often reluctant to pay, there
are further incentives available to landlords.
Social
Landlords
Funding is available to social landlords such as Housing Associations, community
groups, etc. The amount of funding depends upon several factors such as
location, property type, number of properties, etc. In many cases insulation
measures are fully funded so neither the landlord nor the tenant will have to
pay.
